Quick Overview

Maori Point is a bend on the Clutha River where Maori prospectors panned for gold in the 1860's. Vines grow on deep glacial gravels where Central Otago's hot days and cool evenings prolong grape ripening to produce intense fruit flavours.

Details

Juice from hand-picked Pinot Noir grapes was left to gain a fine colour and then separated from the fruit. Lees stirring during fermentation added complexity and a smooth mouth-feel resulting in a deliciously dry aromatic wine with intense fruit flavours. Maori Point Rose has an aroma of rose petals and peaches, with nectarines and cherries on the palate. Best served lightly chilled. 4 stars "Pale pink, with enticing, strawberryish aromas, this is a mouthfilling rosé with strong berry/spice flavours, a hint of apricots, and excellent freshness, harmony and length. A single-vineyard wine, grown at Tarras, it's delicious now". - Michael Cooper
