Premium grapes from a well known North Island vineyard were used to produce this quality Bordeaux style red wine. The grapes were grown on clay soils and hand harvested, batch fermented using traditional French wine making techniques and then barrel aged for 12 months in quality French oak.
The wine displays a good depth of colour with hues of crimson and claret, with lovely berry aromas and an array of spicy notes. Slightly peppery on the palate with a plum and raspberry edge and well balanced tannins combining for a smooth finish.
Great with antipasto, red meats, Italian dishes and hearty stews.
WINE REVIEW by our competition winner Nina:
An exotic, erotic complex nose – sandalwood, coco, dried bananas, figs, prunes and dried wild red berries. The nose and the subtle use of oak reminds me of an old Marqués de Riscal a fine Spanish red from Rioja. A nice spicy toastyness to it with pleasant silky soft tannins. A pure joy to drink.
